Gateway of  Malnad

 Travel Journal

Traveling to Shivamogga has always offered me a delightful blend of natural beauty, historical sites, and cultural experiences. As a cultural enthusiast I venture into this enchanting city located in the heart of Karnataka and the city always greets me with lush greenery, serene rivers, and picturesque landscapes.

One of the mesmerizing sight that pleased my eyes during this trip was the Jog Falls, it is one of the highest plunge waterfalls in India, where I could not resist myself going to the top to view a scenic beauty. As I have a never ending enthusiasm for nature and its beauty, a visit to Lion and Tiger Safari was a must, the diverse flora and fauna amidst dense forest blew my mind. I also experienced elephant bathing, elephant rides at Sakarebyle Elephant Camp .

History buffs can explore ancient temples like the Amruthapura temple which showcase exquisite architecture and its rich heritage. A visit to Shivappa Nayaka Palace Museum provided me an insight into the region's royal history and cultural heritage. This palace is presently under construction.

As a food lover I did not miss the opportunity to savour authentic local cuisine at traditional eateries, indulging in delicacies like Akki Roti, Neer Dosa, Auggu and Akki Kadabu(you can view the shivmogga page to know the recipe.)

If you are an outdoor enthusiast as I am, trekking in the lush Western Ghats or indulging in water sports at the Gajanur Dam will leave you thrilled. Overall, this trip to Shivamogga gave me an enriching travel experience filled with natural wonders, historical marvels, and cultural delights and I would love everyone to visit shivmogga atleast once in a life time.
